We at My Money Story PBC ("My Money Story," "we," "us," "our") know that our users (“Users,” "you," "your") care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our Privacy Policy. Any capitalized terms used herein without definition shall have the meaning given to them in the My Money Story Terms of Service.
By using the Service, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. "Processing,” means using or accessing information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information.
What does this Privacy Policy cover?
This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of personal information ("Personal Information") that we gather when you are accessing or using the Service, as well as the Personal Information we collect and share from sponsoring organizations which may refer you to us. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that we do not own or control or individuals who we do not employ or manage, including other Users. Please note that the Service involves peer conversations between Users, and we encourage Users to act with discretion and treat those communications as private, but we cannot control their actions.
Children Under the Age of Majority
We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 16, or if greater, the age of majority in their jurisdiction (“Age Requirement”). We do not knowingly allow such persons to register for the Service (as that term is defined in our Terms of Service. If you are under the Age Requirement, please do not attempt to register for the Service or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. In the event that we learn that we have collected Personal Information from person under the Age Requirement, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Further, if you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact us at support@mymoneystory.com.
What Personal Information does My Money Story collect?
In order to utilize the Service, you must create a User Account and Profile on the Service. We collect the following types of information from our customers:
Information about your personal details when you create an Account, including:
your name;
mobile telephone number;
zipcode;
physical address(es);
demographic information (race/ethnicity, gender, marital status, dependent information);
financial information (income bracket, income type, spending information, goal aspirations, levels and causes of stress and confidence);
email address;
if applicable, password;
Profile picture (optional);
if you create an account using a social networking account, information provided to us by that third party social network site, including your username, site ID and email address; and
If payment information is required for your account, payment card numbers or other third party payment information, where required for the purpose of payment, and which will be retained by our Payment Processor(s) (but not us) under their respective privacy policies, which can be found here: https://stripe.com/us/privacy.
Information you choose to share with us, including:
Your experience with the Service and any changes in your personal finances or financial activity in connection with the Service;
If you choose to link your Service account to a third party social media service account or single sign-on service, you may have to provide us with your username (or userID) so that your identity can be authenticated by the third party service. When the authentication is complete, we’ll be able to link your Service account with your third party social media service account. That linking may allow us to access certain information that your privacy settings on the third party service permit us to access. We encourage you to carefully choose privacy settings in your third party services to limit the exchange of information to what you want to share with us. However, we don’t try to access any information in the third party service beyond what we have to access in order to allow you to use it to sign onto the Service. We don’t receive or store passwords for any of your third party social media service accounts;
Your opt-in choices and communication preferences; and
Information in correspondence you send to us, or that you share with us in the use of the Service, including in email or SMS exchanges or video chats. Please note that when you correspond with us on social media services, the information you share which can be seen by anyone other than you, us and the relevant social media service is not covered by this Privacy Policy. Only information you share with us privately (i.e., through direct messages, private chat, etc.) is covered by this Privacy Policy.
Information automatically collected about your use of the Service, including:
information about the device you use to access the Service or receive communications from us, such as your IP address, device version and technical specifications, operating system, language, mobile carrier, unique application or advertising identifier; and
Cookies and other similar technologies (e.g. web beacons, flash cookies, etc.) (collectively, “cookies”) to automatically collect information, measure and analyze which pages you click on and how you use the Service, enhance your experience using the Service, improve the Service, and measure the effectiveness of advertisements.
Information automatically collected about your behavior and activities when you use the Service, including:
whether you view or respond to a SMS message, private or group chat, or email;
how long and whether you use video chats;
which Users you interact with on the Service;
the number of times you accessed a page; and
your searches.
Information we may obtain from third parties, including:
If you choose to link your Service account to a third party social media service account or single-signon service, you may have to provide us with your username (or userID) so that your identity can be authenticated by the third party service. As part of our marketing campaigns, we may receive information about you from third party services, such advertising partners, data providers, and analytics providers; and
Sometimes other Users of the Service may provide us with information about you, including through customer service inquiries.
Our Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
We will not disclose Personal Information about you except as set forth in this Privacy Policy, unless it is required, incidental or otherwise related to the primary purpose of providing the Service to you for which you have consented to by accessing or using the Service.
Generally. We may use your Personal Information which we have collected to:
enable your access to the Service and your interaction with other Users;
secure, maintain, support and improve the Service;
verify your identity when you register and create an Account;
track usage of and measure traffic statistics for the Service;
enhance your experience on the Service by tailoring the Content to you;
supply to you potential recommendations based on your use of the Service and the interests you communicate to us;
contact you regarding your use of the Service;
contact you in relation to comments, complaints, enquiries or dispute resolution;
notify you over any changes to the Service and to the related documentation, including the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy;
collect payments from you pursuant to our Terms of Service and/or other agreement with you;
send you marketing communications.
User Profile Information. Your User name and other elements of your Account information will be shared with your Peers when you interact with them. Specifically, your Peers will be able to see your:
First name;
City and State;
Age;
Income range;
Financial goals (selected from a drop down);
Financial dependents (who you support financially);
Information about what may be causing you stress and/or your level of confidence about your financial situation; and
Anything else you choose to share with your Peers (we provide an open text field).
If you choose to use your camera during video chats, your face and anything in the background of the video will be shared with your Peers. Any Profile Information or other Personal Information that Users voluntarily disclose to Peers or other Users or make available to view in the Service becomes publicly available and can be collected and used by others, and may be redistributed through the internet and other media channels. We do not control the policies and practices of any other third party site or service, or of any other Users.
Usage Information and Surveys. We collect information regarding the use of the Service, and will use this data in aggregate form, and not in a manner that would identify you personally. For example, this aggregate data tells us how often Users use parts of the Service, so that we can make the Service appealing to as many Users as possible.
From time to time, we may solicit your participation in user surveys. You are free to participate or not. Not participating will not affect your membership. We may ask you demographic information, including information related to your gender, ethnicity, race, age, sexual orientation, earnings, and accessibility to better understand and serve our community, which you may elect to share or not. We may also ask you about your experience with our Service and other services. We collect such information to ensure we provide fair and equal access to our Service, to make our Service better, and to provide reporting to the organizations which refer Users to us (“Sponsoring Organizations”). To the extent that you participate, we will store your survey responses.
We may provide aggregate information to Sponsoring Organizations or to third parties with whom we work, so that they can understand how people use their services and ours, and how to make the Service better for Users. We do not disclose aggregate information to a third party in a manner that would identify you personally.
User Stories and Reporting. In addition to the aggregate information collected as described above, we may ask you to describe your experience using our Service, including any changes in your personal finances or financial activity. If you agree to tell us your story, then with your permission, we may share your story with your Sponsoring Organization. We will not share your name or identifying information with the Sponsoring Organization without your permission. Also, with your permission, we may share an anonymized version of your story to promote our Service. We will not otherwise share this information with anyone other than people or companies who provide services to us, so that they can provide those services.
Our Service Providers. We may engage other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share your information with them to provide products or services to you. Unless we tell you differently, our agents and service providers will not have any right to use the Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us in fulfilling your request. That said, your payment information will be retained by our Payment Processors under their privacy policy.
Legal. In our sole discretion, we may disclose your Personal Information if we are required to do so by law or legal process, including:
in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights;
as required or authorized by law; or
to the extent required to permit us to investigate suspected fraud, harassment or other violations of any law, rule or regulation, our policies and user agreements, or the rights of third parties or any other suspected conduct we deem improper. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Business Transfer. We may share all of the information we collect with a parent, subsidiary, or other affiliate of our corporate group in connection with the provision of the Service, and / or in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as the sale of the Service, a merger, consolidation, asset sales, or in bankruptcy.
Cookies
My Money Story uses cookies to help personalize your My Money Story experience. We may also use cookies to monitor aggregate usage and web traffic routing on our Service and to customize and improve our products and services. A “persistent” cookie may be used to help save your settings and customize your experience for multiple visits. Also, when you log in to the Website, My Money Story may use a cookie to recognize you as a valid user so that you will not need to log in each time you use the Website. Most internet browsers are initially configured to accept cookies, but you can change this setting so that your browser either refuses all cookies or informs you when a cookie is being sent. In addition, you are free to delete any existing cookies at any time. Please note that some features of the Service may not function properly when cookies are disabled or removed.
Web beacons are very small images or small pieces of data embedded in images, also known as “pixel tags” or “clear GIFs,” that can recognize Cookies, the time and date a page is viewed, a description of the page where the pixel tag is placed, and similar information from your computer or device. We also may include web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or newsletters in order to count how many messages have been opened and acted upon. You may disable web beacons in your emails by disabling HTML images in your email program, which may also affect other images in emails you receive.
Advertising Partners
We may place on our Website, but never anywhere else within the Service, cookies or other tracking mechanisms which allow us to target advertising on third party platforms to individuals who have visited our website. These cookies or other tracking mechanisms on the Website (but again, never anywhere else within the Service) may collect behavioral data directly from you. Advertising partners may include Meta and Twitter/X.

Do Not Track
My Money Story does not use cookies to collect Personal Information or track user’s online activities over time and across different websites, and so does not respond to the Do Not Track setting in your browser. Third party service providers we have engaged may use cookies to collect your Personal Information or online activities over time and across different websites. Analytics
My Money Story may use third party providers ("Analytical Services") to collect and analyze certain of the nonpersonal information collected as described above. These Analytics Services use visitor tracking technology, such as a tracking pixel or other mechanism, to collect, use, share and store our end users’ data.
Email and other Communications
As stated above, we may use your Personal Information to send you communications regarding the Service and the communications which form part of the Service, such as group SMS chats or messages in our web app platform with Peers and our personnel, motivational messages, reminders, and guidance regarding personal finance. We may also use your Personal Information (e.g., email address or mobile telephone number) to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you. We may receive a confirmation when you open an email from us. This confirmation helps us make emails more interesting and improve our service.
If you do not wish to receive non-administrative communications from us, please follow the unsubscribe instructions provided in any of the communications, or follow the instructions under “Choice and Control” below.
Security Precautions
Your ability to access the Service is protected by security measures for your privacy and security.
We use unique and time-limited links sent to your email to provide and control access to the Service. You need to prevent unauthorized access to the Service and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password and/or other sign-in mechanism for your email appropriately and limiting access to your mobile device, computer and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account.
We may also use access credentials (e.g., user name and password) to provide and control access to the Service. You should also protect those access credentials by selecting and protecting your password and/or other sign-in mechanism appropriately and limiting access to your mobile device, computer and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account.
If you access your account via a third party site or service, you may have additional or different sign-in protections via that third party site or service.
We use a combination of authentication procedures, firewall barriers, and encryption techniques (for example, our video chat provider encrypts the video streams, we always encrypt your data when it’s at rest in our servers, and we use “https” for secured web browsing), among others, to maintain the security of your online session and to protect your information and our systems from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.
Please be aware, however, that SMS messages are not typically encrypted, so we are not able to promise that we encrypt those communications.
Moreover, while we request that Users keep the Peer conversations with other Users private, we do not control User behavior and cannot guarantee the security of your conversations with other Users. We suggest that Users be cautious about the kind of information they share in Peer conversations.
Finally, no method of transmitting information over the Internet or storing information is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information.
International Transfer and International Users
Your Personal Information may be transferred to and stored on computers located outside of your local jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of any Personal Information represents your agreement to that transfer. As an example, but not a limitation, if you’re located outside the United States and choose to provide your Personal Information to us, we may transfer your Personal Information to the United States and process it there.
If you are a resident of the EEA, UK, Switzerland, or certain other jurisdictions with similar data protection laws, you have the following rights: the right to access your person, rectification or erasure of, and/or restriction of processing or objection to processing of your Personal Information, and in certain cases, the right to data portability. If you have any questions or want to exercise any of your rights with respect to your Personal Information, please contact us at support@mymoneystory.com. Before we process any request, we may request Personal Information to verify your identity where allowed by law. Where permitted by local law, we may reject requests that are unreasonable or impractical. Finally, you also have the right to at no cost to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authorities. This right may also exist in other countries.
Choices and Control
You can always opt not to disclose information, but keep in mind that some information may be needed to register with us or to take advantage of some of our features.
If you do not want to receive email or other communications from us, please indicate your preference through the functionality of the Service when and as available, by clicking the opt-out link in emails, by emailing us at support@mymoneystory.com, or by other methods that we may provide which match the communication method (e.g., STOP in reply to an SMS message from us). As long as we have a relationship with you, we will need to send you certain administrative communications, so you can’t opt out of receiving those communications.
You may be able to add, update, or delete certain information using the “Edit Profile” functionality of the Service when and as available, including by closing your Service account. When you do so, however, we may maintain a copy of the unrevised or deleted information in our records to the extent we believe necessary for legal compliance or protection of our interests. We may also use any aggregated data derived from or incorporating your Personal Information after you update or delete it, but not in a manner that would identify you personally.
You can stop all collection of information by the Service by closing your Account. To do so, email us at support@mymoneystory.com. When you do so, however, we may maintain a copy of the information already in our records to the extent necessary for legal compliance or protection of our interests. We will retain and continue to use any information we have already published or shared with a Sponsoring Organization in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We may also use any aggregated data derived from or incorporating your Personal Information after you update or delete it, but not in a manner that would identify you personally.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes in the way we use Personal Information, we will notify you by posting an announcement through the Service or by sending you an email. You are bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when you use the Service after such changes have been first posted.
